Sunday Lately is a weekly linkup hosted by the Blogger Tribe, led by Katy (Wild & Wanderful) and Angelica (Gardening in High Heels). We e-hangout every Sunday, sharing a small glimpse into the past week of life in our own worlds.
This week's themes: Basking, Discovering, Tinkering, Feeling, Switching
This past week, we road-tripped from Northern Wisconsin to Florida-- 3,251 miles round-trip.
With a two-year-old and a one-year-old.
This is not for the faint of heart.
We spent two days driving to Georgia to visit some family friends, and then drove down to Florida's "forgotten coast" (the Apalachicola Bay, along the panhandle), to stay in "the real Florida" (a state park). We camped for three nights and then started the slow trek back North. And while we had a great time, I laugh when I look at these pictures-- they show the sun shining, smiling kids with ice cream cones, and beautiful days at the beach. What they don't show is blow-out diapers, the time Grant threw up his Sonic Cherry Limeade all over our packed-to-the-brim car, or how exhausted I was from traveling and keeping the kids entertained. Ahh, vacation!
I had these great plans ahead of time of how I was going to photograph all my outfits and do an awesome post on all the sewing I did for this vacation. But, the car ended up being too full for me to bring my camera bag (thus thwarting my plans for awesome pictures). And, to be honest. I was a hot, traveling, camping, no-conditioner-for-my-hair, mess. So, instead, this is all you get. Two outfits. Haha! But I love them both and they were both specially sewn just for this trip. The first is the Megan Romper, from Made for Mermaids, and the second is the shirt from the George and Ginger Comfort Set, paired with some flippin' comfortable jeggings from *gasp* Walmart. Both fabrics are from Love Adore.
I'm going to finish out this post keeping with the Sunday Lately format, but this week, it's all vacation-themed!
Basking: In the sun. For real. We were LOVING the sunshine and warmth this week. When you live in Wisconsin, nothing is better than getting south for a week to remember what summer feels like.
Discovering: Discovering new joys in parenting and new things about my boys. My kids were so cool this week, haha. I loved watching them. Roman is turning into such a chatterbox-- he knows SO many words (more than G did at the same age, to be honest). He was so happy and smiley and goofy this week. And Grant is getting older too-- his manners were spot-on, he's so stinking independent ("no, I do my own"), and he did a great job managing his big toddler emotions. The boys had an amazing time playing on the beach and at the campsite. They were so much fun! . This is going to be a fun summer-- Roman was still pretty little last year, but this year, I'll have a three-year-old, and an almost two-year-old. They are going to have a blast! Watching them in Florida made me so excited for all the playing, exploring, park dates, and adventures we'll have this summer.
Tinkering: I'm tinkering with so many new ideas! The long drive was perfect for me to think about Middle River Studio and brainstorm things I want to do. I have lots of fun ideas for a new line of summer products (a little bit of everything!). My plan right now is to launch everything May 1st. I'll be posting sneeks in the Facebook group, so keep your eyes out!
Feeling: Feeling so thankful to be home. Not gonna lie, that drive home was long. I was so grateful to get home. I was so happy to be sleeping in my own bed.
Switching: Switching gears! Out of vacation mode and into real-life mode. We're going to take it slow early this week-- you know how sensitive kids get when they're traveling and their schedules get all out of whack. And there are mountains of things to clean. But I do have some fun things to get ready for-- hosting a playdate this week and a craft night next week! And back into sewing mode! I have so many fun things planned over the next few weeks. . . but first, I've gotta clean, tackle the laundry, and meal plan for the week.
Thanks for joining me on this little peek into my week with the Blogger Tribe!
