Sunday Lately: Week 127

Sunday Lately is a weekly linkup hosted by the Blogger Tribe, led by Katy (Wild & Wanderful) and Angelica (Gardening in High Heels).  We e-hangout every Sunday, sharing a small glimpse into the past week of life in our own worlds.

This week's themes: Helping, Cultivating, Forgetting, Traveling, Encouraging

Helping:  Helping myself to these cookies my mom left here . . . don't mind if I do! No regard to swimsuit season this weekend, haha.

Cultivating: Well, as I write this post  sitting outside on this gorgeous Sunday morning, I look out over my lawn and . . .  oh wait. No.  I can't see my lawn at all.  Because there's this GIGANTIC lilac bush in my way. And I have two more even bigger lilac bushes in my yard.  The previous owners of our house did not trim the lilacs at all, so now they're all the size of my garage . . . for the past three years, it's been a discussion with my husband on what we should do. I LOVE lilacs.  I love the smell that wafts into the house, and they're so pretty in early summer. Ours are just wild though.  This might be the year to get out the chainsaw.

Forgetting:  I forgot that it's JUNE! I feel so behind already.  Where did May go? I want it back.

Traveling:  The boys and I will be traveling up to Jo-Ann's today for some last minute supplies for some blog tours and pattern tests you'll see here this month. It's going to be a busy month in that regard.  I actually was able to work in a non-strike off/pattern test/deadlined sew this week, and made these joggers!

Encouraging.

This is the topic I really wanted to talk about today.  You may have noticed that A LOT of my fabric plugs have been for Love Adore Knit Fabrics.  I've bought more fabric from them than anyone else this year, I brand rep for them, and I loved working with, sewing for, and talking to the owner, Kim.  Sadly, this week Kim passed away after battling breast cancer for six years. She was a wonderful business owner and her strength was inspiring as she managed her business and cared for her kids and family all while going through cancer treatment.  She started LAK as a way to build financial stability for her family after she passed.  She was so kind and generous, and LAK has absolute top-notch customer service.  Though I never met Kim in person, I was surprised at the heartache I felt at her passing.  It's a testament to both her sweet nature, and the camaraderie that grows within the on-line sewing community.

I encourage you this week to join Love Adore, where they'll soon be running two breast cancer awareness custom fabrics; join the auction group that will be raising money for her family; or read more about her life at You Caring page. <3
